DOSTI......FRIENDSHIP....

Friendship.....
           One of the beautiful relationships God has given to us.... This word "FRIENDSHIP" is so much part of our lives that we never sit down and think of it, we take it as a default... But when you really think of this word as a relation, you would actually feel as to how pure this is.... And when I did it this is what I got......
           We tend to make friends in all walks of life, wherever we go... when we are too young, we make friends with the people who play with us, then there are the friends in school, may be coaching classes, some bus friends, some neighbors ....All this happens at the very early age, the time when we don’t even know what a friend actually is.... we say that the one with whom we spend some good time is our friend. It’s our belief system that makes us feel so..... later comes the high school and then the college life.... it the time when we become a little mature and start to feel what a friend is... we then actually start distinguishing a friend with a colleague.....this selection becomes more specific with age and experience.... even the people who say that they make friends with almost everyone make such selections.
           Once I asked some of my friends as to what could be the first step to friendship!!!! One of them answered it very simply... saying,"To be friends with someone u need to know that person"... a simple answer but, indeed very true!!! There is no particular formula to make friends...It just happens. When we know a person, we feel comfortable with a person, we have no ego clashes, we can share our life with a person, we tend to accept someone as he or she is and we can count on a person in the worst of circumstances... The value that governs all these is "TRUST".
           I have had a fortune of having a good bunch of "FRIENDS" in my life. All of them are special in one way or the other. I trust my friends and know them well. Even though I am very close to all my friends, I never try to interfere in there lives directly or indirectly. I don't believe in forcing someone to accept my help. I don’t like to dominate any of my friends. And most importantly I never make friends based on anybody else's opinion. All these things help me in maintaining the purity of my relationship. The weirdest thing I do is that I never advocate any of my friends to anybody else coz I somehow feel that this helps to maintain the purity in everybody's relationship.
           Once one of my friends told me that I am the sole reason for one of his achievements and thanked me. I was very happy and felt proud of myself at that moment. But then I realized it was the effort of that individual that got him through .I only told him what my experience was. What probably made him appreciate me was his trust in me. So, I got back to my friend and expressed to him what I thought. What I want to emphasize here is the purity of the relationship.
           There might be many individuals who don’t understand the purity of the relation but claim that they do. What make them do is not there own self but the
expectations of others. I happened to meet a philosopher recently, and he pointed out to me that the worldly expectations along with your aspirations cultivates in you the value and sense of achievement, the excess of which is not very good.
           Even after thinking about "DOSTI" in these complex terms I don't think its that heart to maintain.Its one of the easiest relationships to maintain.I somehow feel that I have not completed what I wanted to write but still I want to put my pen down by the following lines which one of my FRIENDS shared with me:

Far away but always near,
I hold your relationship very clear....
Ever together but never apart...
You'll always be in my heart as my
FRIEND.....
